Product DescriptionDo you really need to spend $2,400 for a bottle of Petrus to enjoy an outstanding merlot? We think NOT! While “grocery store” merlots have given this varietal a bad name, fine versions of merlot are truly an outstanding wine. Sturino Trotta Merlot is 100% merlot, hand-picked and sorted, and patiently aged in French Oak for almost 3 years – yes, 3 years! Who other than Sturino Trotta takes that kind of time?! This Merlot has deep and rich color. It boasts a wonderful bouquet of dark berries, dried cherry, and hints of earth, spice and mocha. This is a full flavor wine with great intensity, yet soft tannins and a distinct freshness. In blind tastings around the country, Sturino Trotta 2008 Merlot was preferred over these other fine Merlots: Duckhorn, Cakebread and Pahlmeyer. (We did not spend the $2,400 to try the Petrus.) You be the judge – try it yourself. |
